Our story · Rotterdam, since 2018

From ingredient innovator
to industry scale.

We help food makers put less sugar and more protein into everyday food. We license the Fooditive Engine™, so they make the ingredients in their own plants or at a CDMO near them.

Who we are

Fooditive B.V. is a food-biotechnology company in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, founded in 2018. We develop fermentation and enzyme technology and license it to food manufacturers.

You produce the ingredients close to your market, in your own plant or at a CDMO we manage for you. We supply the process, the know-how and the support. Our mission: better ingredients, produced where they are needed.

  • Partners own production, cost and supply.
  • Local production cuts transport and supports partners’ ESG goals.
  • Side-streams and surplus fruit can become feedstock instead of waste.
How licensing works

Our story

It started with one question

In 2018, food scientist Moayad Abushokhedim founded Fooditive in Rotterdam. He asked: what if food waste could feed the future?

We saw how much good fruit, especially apples and pears, went to waste. Our first product was a natural, plant-based sweetener made from that surplus fruit.

It proved that sustainability and function can go hand in hand.

From ingredients to licensing

Our real innovation is the engine

We began by making our own ingredients. They proved that our technology turns waste into value.

To change the food system, the industry needed a platform it could use itself.

So in 2025 we became a technology licensor. We license the Fooditive Engine™, and our partners make the ingredients in their own plants or at a CDMO near them.
